During 2001-2002 Godby Shipping has worked towards certification of its environmental management system. The goal was reached in the summer 2002 when Lloyd's Register audited and approved both the office and the shipboard routines in accordance with the international ISO 14001:1996 standard. The certificate of approval was officially handled over on the 6th September 2002.
The certification means that the company has to
- create and follow routines for a safe and environmentally friendly shipping in accordance with international, national and local rules and regulations
- continuously improve the knowledge regarding safety and environment of the company management and the employees
- constantly improve the safety and environmental system and in addition prevent accidents and pollution
- develop and follow up the short term and the long term environmental goals
- our long term environmental goal is to reduce the air pollution from our vessels
Our safety and environmental manager Christer Johansson has been in charge of the certification process.
