Time Charter Agreement with Stena Line for mv Mistral
We are pleased to announce the signing of a one-year time charter agreement with Stena Line for our roro-vessel Mistral. The agreement includes an option for Stena Line to prolong the charter beyond the initial period.
Prior to the charter commencement, mv Mistral will undergo dry docking at the Remontowa shipyard in Poland, in early 2026. In addition to standard maintenance work, we will carry out a series of energy-efficiency upgrades, including the installation of new propeller blades and a redesigned bulb optimized for service speeds between 10–14 knots, resulting in substantial fuel savings. Mv Mistral is already equipped with a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), making Mistral already without the new blades and bulb very fuel efficient. The upcoming modifications will further strengthen the vessel’s operational efficiency and environmental performance.
These investments are part of our broader strategy to ensure that our fleet meets increasingly stringent environmental requirements. With new regulations such as CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator), the EU ETS (Emissions Trading System) and the FuelEU Maritime framework, the pressure on shipping companies to reduce emissions is rapidly increasing. Upgrading and optimizing the existing fleet is essential to ensure long-term compliance, maintain competitiveness, and deliver sustainable transport solutions to charterers.
Under the new agreement, mv Mistral will operate in Stena Line’s liner service between Europort Rotterdam (NL) and Harwich (UK), supporting operations of this key North Sea trade.
Godby Shipping and Stena Line have a long and positive history of co-operation. Our previous co-operation with Miranda, Misida, and Misana was positive, and the charter of M/V Mistral continues this strong relationship.
We remain focused on long-term partnerships with first-class operators, ensuring safe, sustainable, and cost-efficient maritime transport solutions.
